Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy focused on the assessment and treatment of conditions resulting in the dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic health physiotherapists have specific post graduate training to evaluate how the pelvic floor muscles are functioning and coordinating with the rest of the body using both internal and external techniques.
Pelvic health physiotherapy can help you prevent, manage and/or resolve the following conditions:
• urinary, fecal or gas incontinence
• urinary urgency, retention and frequency
• difficulty initiating or completing urination
• incomplete stool evacuation
• pain in/around the clitoris, perineum, vagina or rectum
• dysmenorrhea (pain with menstruation)
• endometriosis
• pelvic organ prolapse
• painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
• vaginismus
• constipation
• pain in the low back, pelvic girdle, sacrum, pubic symphysis and hips
